Shipping under an AISA service contract is easy since booking, documentation, customs clearance, and freight payment procedures remain the same as if you shipped with an ocean carrier directly, i.e.

  • You retain control over the selection of the overseas consolidator and of the ocean carrier(s).
  • The ocean carrier's onboard Ocean Bill of Lading is issued for your cargo.
  • The discounted AISA contract freight is paid directly to the ocean carrier.
  • Documents are sent directly to your Customs Brokers.
  • AISA maintains close contacts with ocean carriers to assure that your AISA contract rates remain at industry-best levels and needed vessel space is provided.

To become an AISA service contract shipper the following membership guidelines and conditions apply:

Complete our Membership Application and submit it to us together with your membership application fee of US $ 250. This does not commit you to anything – except that you give us your assurance that you will keep rate information received from AISA in strictest confidence.
We will respond to your application by providing you with our Service Contract Participation Agreement and the rates applicable under the carrier contracts you selected in your application.
You indicate your final and binding commitment to ship under one or more AISA service contracts by returning your signed Service Contract Participation Agreement to us. Upon receipt we will notify the appropriate ocean carriers to add you to our list of authorized AISA contract shippers.
Once approved as an AISA contract shipper you advise your overseas vendors and/or consolidators: a) to book your containers under the appropriate AISA contract number, b) to show the appropriate SC number on the OBL, and c) to list AISA as an “also notify” party on each OBL to assure for the correct rating at our discounted contract rates.
